Our Story

The We Love Cake story starts back in 2002, when our owner tried living as a coeliac for a week. He was so disappointed by the boring and bland cakes on offer that he decided to build the first ever dedicated gluten, wheat and milk free bakery in the UK!

Since then, we’ve been baking the most innovative tasty treats and spreading joy through the simple magic of good food.

Our free from bakery sits on the edge of the Lake District and is owned by the Bell family, who have been baking in the area since 1946. We aim to support local enterprises, source sustainably and develop regional talent. We gladly provide cakes for charitable causes where we can, especially in our local community.

Over 110 expert bakery staff prepare our small batch cakes every day and ensure nothing leaves our doors that we wouldn’t be proud to serve our families.

We Love Cake is always gluten, wheat and milk free, and we adapt our recipes to be Vegan where there is no compromise on taste. None of our products contain artificial colours, flavourings or hydrogenated fats. Our bakery holds a BRC accreditation grade of AA* and has solar panels on its roof to help us reduce our environmental impact.
